LAST WHITES OF THE EAST END

Newham in East London has the lowest white British population in the UK. This film tells the stories of the last white Eastenders who have started to feel ‘like foreigners in their own land’. Through the journeys of people leaving, or staying in a place that no longer feels like home, this film follows the last whites in Newham as the world changes around them.

"Last Whites of the East End offers up a seldom-televised slice of contemporary Britain."
THE INDEPENDENT

"This is a thoughtful requiem for the 'good old East End'" RADIO TIMES

"Kelly Close’s excellent film showcases some very illiberal opinions [but] affords equal time to some sober, progressive voices – along with those making the case for assimilation – in a consistently compelling watch." THE GUARDIAN

"Kelly Close’s complicated, sympathetic documentary explored the white working-class diaspora from the East End of London to Essex." THE TIMES
